Shihab Chottur

The Man Who Walked Across Nations with Nothing but Faith

Inspiring Influencers

In a world obsessed with speed and shortcuts, Shihab Chottur decided to take the path less travelled, embarking on a slow and soul-stirring journey — one step at a time, spanning thousands of kilometres, fuelled by faith and an unyielding spirit. Standing at 32, this humble driver and farmer from Kerala, India, set out on an extraordinary mission: to walk all the way to Mecca to fulfil Hajj, the sacred pilgrimage every Muslim holds dear. Shihab’s journey would transform into an inspiring tale of resilience, hope, and the remarkable power of human determination.

A Dream Born in Humility

Long before the headlines and accolades, Shihab was just like countless others — leading a modest life, working tirelessly, and nurturing grand dreams in a small corner of India. What truly distinguished him was the sheer size of his determination. He dedicated six months to rigorous training, rising at dawn to boost his stamina, meticulously studying his routes, and mentally preparing for the challenges ahead. For Shihab, every step was more than just progress; it was a form of worship, a heartfelt devotion to Allah.

The Epic Journey: Across Borders & Boundaries

On June 2, 2022, Shihab launched his incredible journey. Armed with only the essentials, he began his trek, covering a staggering distance of about 8,640 kilometers (5,370 miles). The journey was neither straightforward nor easy. Over 12 months and 5 days, he traversed six countries: India, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, and, ultimately, Saudi Arabia. He treaded through bustling cities, arid deserts, frigid mountains, and expansive fields — each step showcasing his unwavering resolve. On June 7, 2023, Shihab finally arrived in the sacred land of Mecca, completing a journey that felt almost fantastical.
